Role: Counsellor

My path into counselling has not been a straight one. I have travelled and lived in different parts of the world, met people from many different walks of life and, for many years, worked within the fitness and wellbeing industry, supporting people to make changes and feel better physically.

My career later took me into very different and often high-pressure roles, but the skills I had developed — listening, encouraging, understanding people and recognising when someone was struggling — stayed with me. Over time, I realised that I wanted to focus less on physical wellbeing and more on what was happening underneath. I retrained as a counsellor so I could concentrate on mental and emotional wellbeing.

Today, I have a small private practice alongside my work within communities across East Sussex and Kent — an area of counselling I feel particularly passionate about.

I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, abuse, stress, low self-worth, relationship and family difficulties, anger, loneliness, identity, trauma and the impact of past experiences.

My foundation is person-centred, but I do not believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all. I draw on a range of humanistic, creative and experiential ways of working, allowing us to shape therapy around you, your needs and what you would like to focus on. Sometimes that may simply mean having the space to talk and be heard; at other times, we might explore things differently or creatively when words alone do not quite feel enough.

Qualifying as a counsellor was never the end of my learning. I continue to develop my knowledge through ongoing professional training across different areas of counselling, with a particular interest in trauma-informed and creative practice. I am currently beginning an additional qualification focused on counselling children and adolescents.
